AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's lacrosse team defeated LaGrange College 16-6 on Saturday afternoon. The Blue and Green improve to 5-5 on the season. Prior to the game, Ave Maria honored its four seniors.

Mackenzie Tourville got the scoring started for AMU with a goal 58 seconds into the contest. Less than a minute later, Abby Castro scored to make it 2-0 in favor of the Lady Gyrenes. Goals by Georgia Miller and senior Lydia Buckley made it 4-0 AMU 12 minutes into the game.

After a LaGrange goal, Stephanie Hilker scored followed by goals by Tourville and Castro. AMU outscored LaGrange 3-2 in the final 12 minutes of the half to take a 10-3 lead into the break. The final goals of the half were by Ketelyn Sherman, Tourville and Castro.

Alexis Smich got the scoring started in the second half with a goal at the 23:19 mark. Senior Kelsey Hughes then scored to make it 12-3 followed by another goal by Smich. Sherman, Hilker and Mary Rexroat each added goals to end the half and finish out the 16-6 victory for AMU.

Senior Hannah Camerota picked up the win in net for AMU, making six saves and allowing six goals.

Ave Maria outshot LaGrange 28-14 and held a 25-12 advantage in shots on goal. AMU had 21 ground balls compared to 13 by LaGrange.

Ave Maria has their final home game of the season next Saturday when they welcome top-ranked SCAD to Gyrene Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
