MELBOURNE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria cross country teams competed in the Florida Tech Invitational Saturday morning. Both teams finished in the ninth place in the non-Division I division.

The men's team finished with a team time of 2:28:31.56. Gabriel Hogan led the way for the Runnin' Gyrenes with an 8k time of 26:50.77. Thomas Mullally (29:23.69) finished in second for AMU followed by Joseph Swehla (30:07.25), Paul Long (30:45.50), and John Lowrey (31:24.35) to round out the top five.

On the women's side, Claire Hobrock led AMU with a time 20:56.21. Theresa Suarez came in with a time of 22:11.91. Finishing behind Suarez were Maria Graves (22:17.83), Brigid Lennon (22:27.28), and Michaela Elmer (22:27.74). The Lady Gyrenes finished with a team time of 1:50:20.98.

The Runnin' Gyrenes return to action next weekend when they travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the National Catholic Cross Country Championships on Friday afternoon.
