NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- The Ave Maria cross country teams competed in their second meet of the 2016 season at the 37th annual National Catholic Cross Country Championship hosted by the University of Notre Dame. UND welcomed 41 Catholic colleges and universities to the Burke Golf Course on Friday afternoon.The Runnin' Gyrenes finished 21st of 28 teams, while the Lady Gyrenes raced to a 22nd place finish.
Gabriel Hogan (27:04.02) led the way for AMU finishing 37th of 200 runners in the non D-1 portion of the men's five mile race.
Thomas Mullally (29:14.80) was the second finisher for the Blue and Green followed by
John Lowrey (30:16.30),
Caleb Selecter (31:27.70), and
Paul Long (32:00.40) to round out the top five.
On the women's side,
Maria Graves led AMU with a personal-best time of 21:12.30.
Claire Hobrock finished second for the women's team in 21:28.90.
Michaela Elmer (22:09.50),
Mary Rexroat (22:22.00), and
Theresa Suarez (22:24.10) rounded out the five placers for Ave Maria.
The Runnin' Gyrenes return to action in two weeks at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
