Box Score Jacksonville, FL – The Ave Maria baseball team opened the 2017 season with a bang, taking down Trinity Baptist College by a score of 15-1. The Friday night matchup was the first of a three game set that continues with a double header on Saturday.

Senior Austin Munn earned the win for the blue and green, striking out nine over four innings of work. Deaven Phillips went four innings striking out five and Tommy Craparo finished the night with a scoreless frame.

All nine member of the Gyrene starting lineup found themselves on base at least twice as the offense running on all cylinders. Freshman Mason Dinesen blasted a three run homer and Ryan Keegan added a solo shot of his own to lead the way for AMU.

Saturday's twin bill is scheduled for a noon start.
