MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- The Gyrenes shot 86.7 percent from three (13-of-15) but were unabe to keep pace with 22nd-ranked Florida Memorial on Thursday night, falling 96-80 in Miami Gardens.

Deonte Dixon led the Gyrenes with 25 points and six boards. Dixon was 9-of-14 from the field and was 5-for-5 from behind the arc. Caelen Watts (16), Tejai Allen (14), and Josh Flowers (10) also finished in double-figures for the Blue and Green.

For the game, Ave Maria shot 44.4 percent from the field. Florida Memorial also shot well on the night, making 52.9 percent of their shots and 12-of-15 from three. The Lions held a 44-24 edge in rebounding.

The Gyrenes kept with the Lions for most of the first half and trailed by four, with 9:01 remaining in the half. The Lions then went on an 18-6 run to take a 40-24 lead. The Gyrenes chipped away at the FMU lead and trailed by 11, 54-43, going into halftime. Florida Memorial maintained a double-digit lead in the second half en route to the win.

Ave Maria sits at 4-11 on the season and is now 2-3 in TSC play. The Blue and Green return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a conference matchup at 7 p.m.
