MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team took on Florida Memorial on Saturday afternoon with the Lions coming out on top in four sets. The Lions defeated AMU 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-25.

Natalie Rosinski led the Lady Gyrenes with 13 kills and three block assists. Erica Chenard added eight kills. Daniela Jaramillo (24) and Nina Parlapiano (22) each tallied 20-plus digs while Lauren Ruby finished with 23 assists.

The Lady Gyrenes trailed for most of the opening set but a four-point run in the middle of the set pulled AMU to within two, 18-16. Ave Maria kept it lose but dropped the first set 25-20.

With Florida Memorial leading in the second set, the Lady Gyrenes scored nine straight points on Cassie Davis' serve to take a commanding 16-9 lead in the set. Rosinski had three kills and Hannah Presson had a pair of kills in the run. Â AMU went on to win the set 25-18.

The Lions overcame an early third set lead by the Lady Gyrenes and won seven of the final nine points to take the set 25-21. FMU closed out the match with a 25-15 fourth set win.

Ave Maria begins its final week of regular season play on Wednesday when they host Warner in their home finale. Prior to the game, AMU will recognize its graduating seniors.
