Volleyball Takes Down Coastal Georgia

After suffering defeat in the first match of their day the Lady Gyrenes took the court against Coastal Georgia. AMU struggled to get anything going against the Keiser, especially on offense, but not against the Mariners.

The Lady Gyrenes came out storming as they took the first two sets by the same score. 25-23. Savannah Stanton led the offensive charge as she tallied 12 kills for the match. Natalie Rosinski had another strong offensive game as scored 9 kills for the second straight match. Erica Chenard also had 8 kills in a solid afternoon, recording 2 blocks as well.

But Coastal Georgia wouldn't go away as they won a tight third set 25-22, and cruised to even the score in the fourth set, 25-17, to send it to a fifth set. Neither team would give in early on as neither team could get more than a one-point lead until AMU broke through to open up a 11-9 lead. Coastal Georgia made one last run but Ave Maria withstood and pulled out the victory.

Lauren Ruby had 20 assists and 10 digs in the match. Cassie Davis pitched in 15 assists and had 3 aces. Daniella Jamarilo led the team defensively with 13 digs.

Next up for the Lady Gyrene volleyball team is two game road trip to Warner and Webber International on October 11 and 12 at 7pm and 4pm respectively.
