BOSTON, Mass. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team defeated Emerson College 66-59 on Sunday morning to finish their Boston trip 4-0. AMU improves to 6-0 on the season. The Blue and Green look to continued their best start in school history on Tuesday when they host Warner at 6 p.m.

Sarah Miller led the Lady Gyrenes with 17 points and 12 rebounds. She was 8-for-10 from the floor on a day Ave Maria shot just 35.1 percent as a team. In their six games this season, AMU has had five different Lady Gyrenes lead the team in scoring.

Lauren Gillingham also finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. She also had six assists.

Mallory Burton and Jasmine Bateman each finished with 12 points while Amanda Kasprzak added 11 point.

Playing their fourth game in five days, the Lady Gyrenes struggled to find their rhythm shooting, making just 26 of their 74 shot attempts. The 74 shots were the second most by AMU in a game this season. The Blue and Green were 3-of-13 from three and made 11 of 15 from the free throw line.

Emerson came out firing in the first half and jumped out to a 17-8 lead on the Lady Gyrenes before a 10-2 run by AMU cut the deficit to one after 10 minutes of play. This was the first time this season that AMU had trailed after one quarter of play.

Early in the second, Bateman knocked down a jumper to give the Lady Gyrenes their first lead of the half. AMU went into the break leading 40-34.

The Lady Gyrenes were unable to pull away in the third quarter and held a slim lead entering the fourth. Emerson scored the first four points of the final quarter to take a 53-51 lead. AMU responded with a  7-0 run, with five of the seven points coming from Miller, to take a 58-53 lead. The Lady Gyrenes wouldn't surrender the lead for the remainder of the game and went on to win, 66-59.
The all-tournament team for the past two days will be announced later tonight after the conclusion of today's games.
