Gyrenes Fall In Exhibition At Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell to Embry-Riddle on Tuesday night, 110-80. It was the second exhibition game for AMU in as many nights.
 
Jonathan Simmons led the Gyrenes with 22 points of 9-of-15 shooting. He also tallied nine assists and five rebounds. Lucas Uzdavinis finished with 15 points while Jovan Grujicic and Greenan Sullivan recorded 13 points and 12 points, respectively.
 
Ave Maria shot nearly 48 percent from the field and were 12-of-24 from three but were unable to slow down the ERAU offense. The Eagles, shot 54.8 percent on the night and also made 12 threes. Embry-Riddle held a 46-29 edge on the boards.
 
The Gyrenes ran into an Embry team that couldn't miss in the opening half. The Eagles made twice as many shots as AMU in the first 20 minutes and eight threes to jump out to a 62-32 lead. Both teams scored 48 points in the second half.
 
Ave Maria plays their third and final exhibition of the season on Nov. 28 when they travel to Florida Atlantic for a 7 p.m. tip.
