WALESKA, Ga. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell on the road against Reinhardt University on Friday night, 99-84. AMU concludes its three-game road trip to begin the season on Saturday when they take on Truett-McConnell University at 4 p.m.

The Gyrenes shot nearly 52 percent in the opening half to take a 46-36 edge into halftime. Reinhardt then outscored Ave Maria 63-38 to top the Blue and Green by 15.

Greenan Sullivan led five Gyrenes in double figures with 13 points. Jovan Grujicic, Stevan Krusevac, and Joan Povea each tallied 12 points while Josh Flowers added 10 points. All nine Gyrenes that got in the game found the scoring column for AMU.

Nemanja Brankov led AMU with 10 rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Grujicic also recorded a team-best three blocks.

Ave Maria shot 41.7 percent from the field for the game and were 12-of-27 from behind the arc. Reinhardt shot 39.8 percent on the game and made 11 of their 29 shots from three. The difference in the game came in the turnover column. Reinhardt turned the ball over 16 times compared to AMU's 30 and held a 41-16 advantage in points off turnovers. Reinhardt also held a big advantage in second chance points, 15-1.

The Blue and Green held a 14-point advantage just past the midway point of the first half when Povea capped a 7-0 run by AMU with a fastbreak lay-up to put Ave in front 27-13. A few minutes later, Flowers made a lay-up to give the Gyrenes a, 32-17 lead, their largest of the game with 6:32 to play.

With a few minutes to play in the first, Reinhardt went on a 13-1 run to bring them within three, 33-30. AMU responded with another 7-0 run to increase their edge back to double-figures.

Ave Maria came out cold in the second half and a 13-2 run by Reinhardt allowed the Eagles to take the lead at the 16:17 mark. Reinhardt continued to build its lead as AMU struggled to find their shot over the final 15 minutes.
