BABSON PARK, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball season came to a close on Thursday night with a 91-74 defeat at Webber. The Gyrenes end the season with a 6-21 overall record and a 4-12 record in Sun Conference play.

Four Gyrenes scored in double-figures on the night, led by Caelen Watts with 18 points. He also added a team-high nine rebounds and four steals. Deonte Dixon finished with 12 points followed by Exor Torres with 11 and Eric Richardson with 10 points.

The Blue and Green shot 38 percent on the night and made 6-of-24 from three. Webber made 49 percent of their shots and three from behind the arc. Webber held a 51-24 advantage on the boards.

The Gyrenes and Warriors went back-and-forth over the opening 10 minutes with Ave Maria holding its largest advantage, six points, after a three by Eric Richardson with 7:46 to play in the half. Webber responded with a 20-3 run to take a 43-32 lead into the half.

Webber was able to maintain a double-digit lead in the second half, outscoring AMU 48-42 during the second stanza en route to a 91-74 win.
