Ave Maria, FL – The Ave Maria baseball team was handed a loss by Purdue University – Northwest this afternoon at Bowie's Ballpark. In what was a high scoring affair, the Gyrenes could not keep pace with the Pride and fell by a score of 15-8.

It was a back and forth battle for much of the afternoon as the teams traded run scoring innings thru the first three frames. Purdue – Northwest then put up four runs in the fourth which was answered by AMU with two in the bottom half of the inning and three more in the fifth. A two run deficite to begin the sixth was as close as the Gyrenes would come as the Pride would add to their lead in the sixth, seventh and ninth to put the game out of reach.

Purdue – Northwest's offensive attack was led by third baseman, Tyler Kenjic who drove in four runs on three hits and a walk in his four at bats. Hunter Thorn and Cody Moskovsky each added three RBI's of their own.

Tully Allen was the offensive leader for Gyrenes this afternoon, driving in three runs on two hits. Freshman outfielder Brodie Howe notched two RBI's on one hit and had three walks.

CJ Bottiglieri was the starter for Ave Maria and struck out five batters in three innings of work. Brody Kutch finished on the pump for Purdue – Northwest with two scoreless innings and a pair of strikeouts.

The Blue and Green will be back in action tomorrow as they jump back into conference play and they begin a three game series with Florida Memorial University in Miami. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
