THOMASVILLE, Ga. --- The Ave Maria softball team dropped an 8-3 decision at Thomas in the final game of their three-game set in Thomasville on Saturday afternoon. Both teams hit a pair of home runs in the rubber match.

Thomas got on the board first with a run in the third and two more in the fouth. In the fifth inning, Thomas connected on a three-run home run and a two-run shot to take a 7-0 lead.

Ave Maria got one run back in the sixth on a Brittney Pressley solo home run. A two-run home run by Paige Aldred in the top of the seventh gave us a final of 8-3.

Sadie Mosher took the loss for AMU, pitching four innings and allowing five earned runs (six runs). She allowed six hits and walked two. Gennifer Raulerson pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs.

Thomas' Lauren West earned the win, pithing all seven innings for the Night Hawks. She allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Ave Maria has a quick turnaround as they play a pair of games in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Naples on Tuesday. They take on Crown College at 9 a.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 11 a.m.
