BELLEVILLE, IL- The Ave Maria Women's Lacrosse team stormed to a 17-6 victory this afternonn over the Lynx of Lindenwood University – Belleville. The Lady Gryenes jumped out to a 4-0 lead to begin the game that they would never relinquish.
The Lynx would cut into their early deficit to pull within just 2 score before The Green and Blue answered back. Ave Maria responded by hitting the back of the net 9 more times in the opening half, taking a 13-4 into the break.
Ave Maria continued to bring the offense pressure in the second half which included a run of 4 consecutive goals coming from Georgria Miller, Alexis Smich, and two from Mackenzie Tourville.
Alexis Smith, Katelyn Sherman, and Mackenzie Tourville led the way for the Lady Gyrenes with 4 goals apiece on the day, while Sarah Wade and Georgia Miller added 2 each. Diana Semegran rounded out the scoring for Ave Maria as they both tallied 1 goal.
The Lady Gyrenes continue their trip to the Midwest as they take on Missouri Baptist in St. Louis on Monday before returning home. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
