AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's and women's tennis teams completed their fall tournament schedule this past weekend. The Gyrenes will wrap up fall play on Nov. 10 when they host ASA College in an exhibition match.

ITA Florida Regionals – West Palm Beach, Fla.

In doubles play on the men's side, Alan Rizk and Liam Dolehide won their opening match via walkover before falling to the top-seed from Keiser 8-0. Sebastian Ramirez and David Zuleta defeated a duo from Southeastern 9-8 (7) in the first round before falling to a Webber doubles team in round two. Davin Hanton and Cesar Menacho fell in their first round match-up 8-2 to Keiser.

AMU had six guys participate in the singles main draw. Zuleta, Menacho, and Ramirez each made it into the second round. Zuleta defeated Bruno Carvalho from Warner before falling to the top-seed from Coastal Georgia. Menacho advanced via walkover and then fell to Keiser's Olivier Koeng. Ramirez defeated a Keiser player and Coastal Georgia player in round one and two, both matches going to a third-set tiebreaker. Ramirez then defeated Rasmus Lindstrom from St. Thomas to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarters, Ramirez fell to Anthony Van Rompay from Keiser.

In the men's singles back draw, Hanton and Menacho both won their opening match. Hanton lost in the second round to Keiser's Haswagawa. Haswagawa then knocked out Menacho in the third round after Cesar defeated Webber's Hall 8-4 in round two. Rizk and Dolehide each dropped their back draw opening match.

On the women's side, Camila Branstner and Averie Harkey were the only team the Gyrenes fielded in the doubles draw. The duo dropped their opening match 8-1 to a double team from Webber.

In women's singles main draw play, AMU had three players compete. Branstner lost in two sets to St. Thomas' Andrea Gonzalez. Lauren McCarthy was defeated by a Keiser single. Harkey was bested by Coastal Georgia's Lindsey Lawing.

Harkey and McCarthy each received byes in the opening round of the women's singles back draw. Both dropped their second round match up, Harkey 8-2 to Southeastern and McCarthy 8-1 to SCAD-Savannah. Branstner picked up a win in the first round, a 8-6 victory over St. Thomas' Curry. Brantsner then fell in the second round 8-0 to Warner's Collings.

YTF Tournament – Lakeland, Fla.

In the YTF Tournament hosted at Southeastern University. The Gyrene men's tennis team first competed in doubles action. Ramirez and Zuleta lost in the opening round to Southeastern 8-4. With a bye in the opening round, Hanton and Rizk dropped their second round match to a doubles team from ASA College 8-3.

In singles play, Ramirez defeated Thomas Ortega from Southeastern 7-5, 6-3 in the his opening round match of the men's black main draw before dropping his second round match against the top-seed from ASA. Nicholas Hofmeister won one of the longest matches of the tournament in his opening round match 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 against an individual from Florida Southern. He fell in his second round draw against ASA.

Zuleta won the men's red main draw. Zuleta defeated Webber's Matthew Alexander 6-3, 6-2 in the opening match and followed that up with a 6-1, 6-4 win over another Webber player in round two. Zuleta then topped Tyler Glowaki from Southeastern in the semifinals before defeating Hunter Branstner in the finals 6-2, 6-0.

Hanton and Rizk each dropped their opening round match in the men's red main draw. In the consolation bracket of the red main draw, Hanton three straight matches to win the consolation bracket. He defeated two players from Webber and one from Warner en route to the third-place win. Rizk fell in his first match of the consolation draw.
