AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team defeated Keiser 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the match, Ave Maria recognized its three graduating seniors Aspen Davidson, Daniela Jaramillo, and Lauren Ruby.

The Gyrenes used a balanced attack to top the Seahawks. Katie O'Donnell and Alejandra Suarez each had eight kills. Jenna Barnak had seven kills while Ruby and Talia Samuels each tallied six kills for AMU. Cassie Davis had a team best 19 assists.

Ruby also finished with 16 assists and 12 digs. Senior Jaramillo led AMU with 22 digs. Davidson had eight digs and a service ace in her final game for the Gyrenes.

Ave Maria got off to early leads in all four sets. The Gyrenes were up 4-1 before Keiser came back to take a 9-8 advantage. Four-straight points, including a service ace by Davidson, later in the set gave AMU a 13-11 edge. With the match tied at 23, Ave Maria won the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set began with AMU ahead 9-5. AMU held on to their lead for the early part of the set before a five point run by Keiser gave the Seahawks a 16-14 lead. Tied at 17, four straight points by AMU put the Gyrenes in front 21-17. With the set tied, back-to-back kills by Davis and Barnak gave the Blue and Green the set 25-23.

After Keiser won the third set 25-20, the Gyrenes came out in the fourth set and jumped out to a 9-5 advantage. AMU extended their lead to eight, 16-8, later in the set and went on to win the set 25-20.

The Gyrenes finish the season with a 7-15 overall record and a 4-12 mark in conference play.
