15 Threes Leads AMU Past Trinity Baptist

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team made 15 threes in rout to an 81-54 win at Trinity Baptist on Friday night. The 15 three-pointers is tied for fourth most in school history.
 
The Gyrenes made 10 of their 15 threes in the opening 20 minutes that led to a 51-27 first half lead. AMU shot 44 percent from behind the arc for the game and 48 percent from the field.
 
Greenan Sullivan led the Gyrenes with 21 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three. He also tallied five assists. Leo Behrend finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Caelen Watts and Gianpaolo Riccio also finished in double-figures with 14 points and 11 points, respectively.
 
The Blue and Green defense held Trinity to 31.7 percent shooting from the field and to 2-of-17 shooting from three. AMU forced 15 turnovers and had seven steals.
 
Ave Maria returns to action on Monday when they take on Rollins in an exhibition game in Winter Park, Fla. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m.
