ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's and women's tennis team continued to play on their spring break trip in Orlando, defeating both Roosevelt (Ill.) and Ursinus (Pa.) on Wednesday.

The Ave Maria men's tennis team defeated Roosevelt 7-2 before downing Ursinus 6-3.

Against Roosevelt, AMU swept doubles play 3-0 and won singles play 4-2. Sebastian Ramirez and David Zuleta won at one-doubles 8-4 while Nicholas Hofmeister and Brandon Valley won at two-doubles 8-2. Brian Schmidt and Cesar Menacho topped the Roosevelt duo at three-doubles by a 8-0 score.

In singles play, Ramirez rallied from a first set loss to win at one-singles in three sets. Schmidt, Hofmeister and Davin Hanton also picked up wins.

In their matchup with Ursinus, the Gyrenes trailed 2-1 after doubles play only to rally in singles play with five of the six singles points.

Schmidt and Menacho won the only point for AMU in doubles play, 8-5, in the three doubles spot. In singles play, Ramirez, Zuleta, Schmidt, Valley, and Menach each picked up wins to give AMU a 6-3 win.

On the women's side, Ave Maria defeated Roosevelt 7-2 and Ursinus 5-4.

Ave Maria won both doubles matches by scores of 8-2. Amanda Grebosky and Averie Harkey won at one-doubles while Camila Branstner Therese Sadusky won at two-doubles.

AMU swept their five singles matches. Greboky won at one-singles 6-4, 6-0 and Branstner won 6-0, 6-4 at two singles. Colleen Herrman made quick work of her opponent at three-singles, 6-0, 6-0. Harkey and Sadusky each won at four and five singles respectively to round out the scoring for AMU.

In their night cap against Ursinus, the women's team won a tight match 5-4. AMU won both doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Grebosky and Harkey won 9-8 (7-4) at one singles. Branstner and Herrman won 8-6 at two-doubles.

In singles play, Ursinus took the first point followed by points by Herrman and Harkey to give AMU a 4-3 lead. Ursinus won the fifth-singles match in three sets to even the match a four. Playing at one-singles, Grebosky won 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-5) to clinch the match for AMU.

Both teams return to action on Thursday when they take on John Carroll (Ohio) at 12 p.m.
