WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- The Ave Maria softball team dropped both games of their Saturday doubleheader at Keiser University. The Gyrenes were defeated in game one, 8-1, before dropping the second game 10-1 in five innings.

AMU got off to an early lead in both games. In game one, Kalie Romig singled to the pitcher in the top of the third which allowed Abigail Love to score to give AMU a 1-0 lead. Keiser responded with three in the bottom half of the inning to make it 3-1.

The Seahawks added a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to extend their advantage to 8-1.

Five different Gyrenes recorded a hit in game one. Brooke Pierron allowed four earned runs on 12 hits and one strikeout in the loss for AMU.

In game two, Emma Thompson gave AMU a 1-0 lead in the first when she doubled in Romig who reached on a singles to start off the game.

AMU would manage only one more hit the remainder of the game as Keiser scored one in the second, three in the third, and six in the fourth to end the game after five innings.

Brianna Geiger allowed six earned runs on seven hits and three walks in the loss.

Ave Maria moves to 20-19 on the season and to 5-13 in conference play. They return to action on Wednesday at Webber for a TSC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
