Men's Golf Wraps Up Season Opening Event

PALM HARBOR, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's golf team concluded The Invite at Innisbrook on Tuesday afternoon. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was played on the Copperhead Course, home of the PGA's Valspar Championship.
 
Sophomore Jonah Manning moved up to tied for 32nd individually after a round of two-over par 73 in the final round. He finished with rounds of 75-79-73 for a total of 227. Freshman Gabriel DeCasas finished second for AMU with a final round score of 81 to finish the event at 236.
 
Roch Aubert finished the event at 264 followed by Michael Lis-Planells at 268 and Trevor Graham at 273.
 
Ave Maria finished the event in 19th place with a 54-hole total of 994.
 
Second-ranked Coastal Georgia won the team competition at 873 (+21) followed by fourth-ranked Keiser at 881 (+29). No. 1 Texas Wesleyan finished fifth at 889 (+37).
 
Keiser's Carl Didrik M. Fosaas won the tournament individually, after a final round 72 to finish the event at 209 (-4). Three golfers finished under par for the event.
 
The field featured 14 teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll, including four of the top five teams and the defending National Champion team from Texas Wesleyan.
