Women’s Basketball Improves To 4-0 With Win At Voorhees

DENMARK, S.C. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on Thursday night with a 57-49 win at Voorhees College in South Carolina. The Gyrenes conclude their five-day road trip on Saturday with a 12 p.m. contest at Tennessee Wesleyan.
 
The Gyrenes trailed after a quarter of play, 10-9, but came back with a 17-9 second quarter to take a 26-19 lead into halftime. Voorhees cut the AMU lead to five after three quarters. The Gyrenes outscored Voorhees 17-14 in the fourth to close finish the game with a 57-49 win.
 
Danielle Weinmann led the Gyrenes with 18 points and eight rebounds. Syanne Rowe and Sarah Miller also finished in double-figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Megan Allen had a team-best nine rebounds. Miller had eight rebounds for AMU.
 
The Gyrenes shot 37.3 percent on the night and were 2-of-9 from behind the arc. Ave Maria made 17-of-25 from the free throw line. Voorhees shot 35.2 percent from the field on the night. The Gyrene bench outscored Voorhees 20-9.
