Gyrenes Open TSC Play With Win At Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. --- The Ave Maria baseball team opened their 2019 conference slate on Friday afternoon with a, 7-4, win at Warner. Trailing 4-2 after four innings, AMU scored five unanswered runs to come away with the win in the series opener.

Ave Maria got the scoring started with a RBI fielder's choice by Nick Wydler in the top of the second inning that allowed Andy Hernandez to come around and score. After Warner tied the game in the third, AMU regained the lead in the next half inning on a Robert McMahon sac fly that brought in Spencer Nelson.

Warner scored three in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead on the Gyrenes.

Daniel Caylor picked up a pair of RBI in the fifth on a single to center field, scoring Tully Allen and Alex Perez to tie the game at four.

Perez then gave the Gyrenes the lead in the top of the sixth on a double to right center that plated Hernandez. The Blue and Green picked up some insurance runs in the eighth inning when Chris and Nick Wydler both scored on passed balls.
