Gyrenes Score One on SCAD

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — Ave Maria got their first goal since they beat Warner on September 30 but ultimately lost 7-1 to the SCAD Bees. The Bees scored on their first shot of the game and never looked back.

In the opening 45 minutes, Ave Maria only managed three shots that all went high or wide of the goal. SCAD on the other hand took 12 shots, five of which were directed on goal with three finding the back of the net.

In the second half, SCAD kept firing, scoring three more goals on 13 shots.

However, in the 70th minute Ave Maria finally got on the board, scoring their first goal in over three games. Cade Williams gave a shot pass out of a corner, got the ball back and then crossed it into the goal box, where Padraic Pierson slammed home the ball for the Gyrenes lone goal of the game. It was Pierson's second goal of his career, getting both this season.

That would unfortunately be the final shot of the game for the Gyrenes as the Bees ran out the final 20 minutes adding one more goal in the final five minutes of the game.

With the loss, the Gyrenes fall to 1-12-1 overall and 1-9 in conference play. Ave Maria is home for the next two games, taking on the Warner Royals Wednesday, October 18, and the Keiser Seahawks Saturday, October 21. AMU's lone win on the season was against the Warner Royals September 30 with the Gyrenes coming out on top 3-1. Ave Maria hopes for a similar outcome next Wednesday
