KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NAIA Announced the 2025 Women's Lacrosse All-Americans Thursday morning, and the Gyrenes had four players make the Third Team: Hannah Shaffrey, Abigail Seiler, Haley Chapman and Elie Coyle. It is the most players the Gyrenes have ever had named All-Americans in program history.
Shaffrey was named an All-American for the second year in a row, becoming the first Gyrene to earn back-to-back selections from the NAIA. The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year shattered all kinds of records this season, including single season assists and career points at Ave Maria. With 55 assists in 2025, Shaffrey had the third-most in the country and tied for the sixth-most in NAIA history. Shaffrey also scored 34 goals to record 89 points on the year, ranking her 12
th in the NAIA. She ends her career with 245 points, 77 more than head coach Katelyn Sherman who held the record from 2019 to this year.
Seiler was named an All-American for the first time in her career. Seiler led the team with 43 goals, matching her career-high and tying the third-most goals in a single season at Ave Maria. Seiler passed head coach Sherman for the most career goals in AMU history on senior day, ending her collegiate career with 155. Seiler tacked on eight assists in the season to finish with 51 points and 186 career points. Seiler was also named to the First All-Sun Conference team for the second year in her career.
Chapman was named an All-American defender for the first time her in career. The sophomore collected 23 ground balls and caused 17 turnovers. In the midfield, she had the second-most draw controls on the team with 61, behind Seiler. Chapman had one point on the season, recording an assists against Missouri Baptist. Chapman was also named to the First All-Sun Conference team in her first season of play at Ave Maria.
Coyle was the final All-American named for Ave Maria, also as a defender and for the first time in her career. After missing 2024, the senior from Jacksonville came back and led the defense with 44 ground balls and caused 32 turnovers, tying for the second-most in a single season in Ave Maria history. Nationally, she was tied for the ninth most caused turnovers and the 23
rd most ground balls. Like the other three, Chapman was also named to the First All-Sun Conference team.
Twelve teams were recognized among the 48 players named All-Americans in 2025. National Runners-Up Cumberlands had the most All-Americans with six. Indiana Tech, Reinhardt, Keiser and the National Champions Benedictine were all next tied at five. Ave Maria was tied with Missouri Baptist and Lawrence Tech with four. Rounding out the group were Georgetown and Life tied with three and SCAD and Marian tied with two. Ave Maria had the most players on the Third Team, making up a quarter of the 16 players honored.
