TAMPA, Fla. — Ave Maria University's Christopher Hermann has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Sun Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for 2024-25.
A senior standout in cross country and track & field, Hermann exemplifies excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and service. He graduated with a 3.97 GPA, completing a double major in Politics and Communications, along with a minor in Theology.
A three-time Academic All-Conference honoree, Hermann also stood out on the course, earning First-Team All-Sun Conference recognition and qualifying for the NAIA National Championships in cross country. In 2024, he was named the league's Men's Cross Country Champion of Character, recognizing his commitment to integrity, respect, and servant leadership.
"Chris Hermann truly is the best combination of student and athlete," Ave Maria Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Alan Webb boasted. "He leads by example—consistently setting the standard for our team both on the course and in the classroom. He's an outstanding role model and a great example to follow."
Hermann's impact extended far beyond competition. He served as team captain for both the cross country and track & field programs and was elected President of the Ave Maria Student Government Association, where he led initiatives to enhance student life and advocated directly with university leadership. He was also chosen as a Politics tutor to support fellow students and served as Leader of the Fishers of Men household, guiding more than 20 peers in faith and personal development.
Additionally, Hermann was a Fellow at the AMU Center for Catholic Citizenship and served as a student representative for the NAIA Association of Student-Athletes (ASA), further reflecting his dedication to leadership at both the institutional and national levels.
The Sun Conference is proud to recognize Christopher Hermann as the 2024-25 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for all he's accomplished on and off the course.
