CLEVELAND, Ga. — Beach Volleyball won their final match of the Georgia pod Saturday, beating the host Truett McConnell Bears 5-0. Saturday's match featured the closest flights of Ave Maria's three matches in the Peach State, with two positions needing a third set, but the Gyrenes still got it done.

Ines Lopes and Ryan Getz won the top flight 21-12, 21-11. AMU's top pair gave up the fewest number of points in the match. Lopes and Getz are now 6-2 on the year.

Adriana Bravo and Ava Winkler also won in two quick sets, beating TMU 21-12, 21-15. Like Lopes and Getz, Bravo and Winkler are also 6-2 on the year.

The third and fourth flights each needed a third set, but the Gyrenes prevailed in the winner take all frame.

In the third position, Elle Malczewski and Greta Heiney dropped the first set 29-27. It is one of the highest scoring sets of the season for the Gyrenes. The two came back to win the second frame 21-16 and then cruised through the rubber match set, winning 15-8. Malczewski and Heiney are now 7-1 on the year.

In the fourth flight, Beatriz Rissi and Maria Teixeira won the opening set 21-13 but dropped the second set 20-22. Their final set was a little closer, but Rissi and Teixeira won the day with a 15-11 win. The victory bumped up Rissi and Teixeira to 7-1 on the year.

In the fifth and final flight, Abbey Grose and Maylis DeTar secured the sweeping point with a clean two set win at 21-17, 21-12. Grose and DeTar are a perfect 8-0 on the season in the fifth position.

With the win, Ave Maria remains perfect at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in Sun Conference play.
