Pete Horner is in his second season at Ave Maria and first season as interim head coach. Horner was named the interim head coach January 13.
Horner joined Ave Maria for the 2024 season as a pitching coach.Â
Prior to joining the Ave Maria baseball program for the 2024 season, Horner made stops across collegiate, summer collegiate, and professional baseball. At the collegiate level, Horner has coached at Des Moines Area Community College, McPherson College, and most recently as the Director of Pitcher Development at Bowling Green State University.Â
At the summer collegiate level, Horner has coached with the Wellsville Nitros of the New York Collegiate Baseball League, the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League, and the Macon Bacon of the Coastal Plain League. He also served as the pitching coach for the Great Falls Voyagers of the independent professional Pioneer League.
Horner earned his degree in mathematics and data science from Bowling Green State University in 2020, serving as a four-year manager for the baseball program.
