Sean Buchanan

Sean Buchanan is in his fourth season as assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Ave Maria University. He will also be working as an assistant sports information director.
 
Buchanan comes to Ave Maria from Bard College where he held the position of hitting coach. His responsibilities at Bard along with coaching the hitters included assisting in day to day baseball operations, practice planning, assisting in the operation of camps and recruiting. Prior to Bard, Buchanan was the top assistant at Dutchess Community College and was an assistant coach at New Paltz State University in New York. 
 
During the summer months, Buchanan spent three years as an assistant coach in the Perfect Game Colliegate Baseball League in upstate New York. In 2012, he was a member of the Cooperstown Hawkeyes and was the hitting coach of the Albany Dutchman from 2013 to 2014. While in Albany, Buchanan helped lead the franchise to their first two playoff appearance in consecutive years while coaching players from some of the nations top baseball programs such as Indiana, Coastal Carolina, Mississippi State and Baylor. 
 
The New York native has also worked as a personal instructor for several years throughout the Hudson Valley region and served as a coach at some of the premiere baseball camps in the Northeast. 
 
Before beginning his coaching career, Buchanan earned an associates degree in secondary education from Dutchess Community College and a bachelors degree from New Paltz State University while a member of both baseball programs. 
 
Buchanan now resides in Ave Maria, Florida.
