Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson enters his third season as on the Ave Maria staff. He works primarily with the secondary.

In 2019, the Gyrenes ranked in the top 20 in the nation in passing yards allowed, holding opponents to less than 175 yards per game. Wilson's secondary also helped the Gyrenes to a spot in the top five in the nation in opposing first downs. Over ten games in 2019, Ave Maria logged nine interceptions from six different players.

During his first season as coach in 2018, his work with the secondary allowed AMU to post the No. 9 passing defense amongst the NAIA’s 93 teams. Most indicative of Wilson’s impact was the fact that two freshmen were the starting corners for AMU’s final games of the season, as the Gyrenes clinched the 2018 Sun Division Championship.

Coach Wilson’s playing career at Ave Maria University was epitomized by sound, fundamental play. A business student at AMU, he excelled on the field, registering the most snaps of any Ave Maria football player during the 2016 season while playing cornerback and on special teams.
