Anthony Echols

Anthony Echols is in his second season with the Gyrene football program. Coach Echols comes to Ave Maria from Northern Michigan University, where he graduated with a degree in physical education in 2012. Coach Echols will be coaching Linebackers and will be assisting with Strength and Conditioning for the Gyrenes.

Coach Echols played Defensive End for the Wildcats from 2009-2011. He represented Northern Michigan in the BSN showcase in Akron, Ohio in 2012. It consisted of players from the FBS, NCAA D2-D3, and NAIA levels. Echols had 45 tackles in his senior campaign, as well as 7 tackles for loss. Echols began his college career at Joliet Junior College where he was an All-American in 2008. Coach Echols was 5th in the country solo tackles in 2008 as well.

Echols is a graduate of Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a two sport athlete in baseball and football. He was ranked as the 39th best football player in the state of Ohio, as well as picking up an All-Conference nomination in baseball in his senior year at Glenville.
