Charles Mickens is in his second season as a member of the Ave Maria football coaching staff. He joined the staff entering spring practice in 2022.
Mickens works primarily with the running backs.
In addition to his duties as a coach, he is in his third year as a student support services advisor for the Ave Maria athletic department.
Mickens graduated from Ave Maria University in 2021, earning his degree in psychology. He was a three-year member of the AMU football program, transferring in to Ave Maria prior to his sophomore season. Mickens was a three-time Academic All-Mid South selection, and earned NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athlete recognition following the 2019 season.
