Malcolm Pearson

Malcolm Pearson is in his second season with Ave Maria University.  He brings both coaching and professional and collegiate playing experience to the staff including a National Championship at the University of Miami in 1991.  In 1995, Pearson was named the Defensive Back of the Year at Miami, named to the Hula Bowl All-Star Team, as well as 1st Team All Big East Conference.
 
Malcolm signed with the Denver Broncos in 1995, played in the NFL Europe with the Barcelona Dragons in 1996, and played in the CFL (Canadian Football League) with the Hamilton Tiger Cats (1998). 
 
Pearson also has several years of coaching experience including four years of coaching as a volunteer assistant at Prairie View University in Houston, Texas as a Defensive Backs Coach (2007-2011).  He then moved to Texas College in Tyler, Texas where he worked as the Defensive Backs Coach & Strength and Conditioning Coach & Co-Defensive Coordinator (2011-2012). For the 2012-2013 season, Coach Pearson coached Corners and Safety at Northeast High School in Florida where his team ranked third best defensively in Broward County. 
 
Coach Pearson attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he was a three-year starter who, as a senior, was a first-team All-Broward County selection by the Ft. Lauderdale News and Sun Sentinel. Out of high school, the Miami Herald rated him as the 16th best prospect out of the state of Florida. Pearson was also named to the Sun-Sentinel All-Decade Team with the likes of Bennie Blades at free safety. Pearson was a four-year letterman in football and basketball, while earning three letters in track.
