Marty Quinn

Marty Quinn is in his fourth year with the Gyrene Football staff. He was hired in February 2012 and implemented a new offense for the Gyrenes during the spring. He was promoted to head coach in December of 2012, after doubling Ave Maria's offensive yards per game from the previous season. Coach Quinn served as the Offensive Coordinator in 2012. He comes to Ave Maria from Evergreen Park, Illinois. His most recent position was the running backs coach, video coordinator, and academic coordinator at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois. While on the Caravan staff, Quinn helped guide the team to the 2011 Chicago City Championship (Prep Bowl). In 2010, he helped the Caravan get to the Class 8A Illinois State Championship.

During 2008-2009, Coach Quinn served as the defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach for Marist High School in Chicago, Illinois. In 2009, the Redhawks reached the Illinois state championship game. In 2008, he helped the team reach the 8A state quarterfinals. While on the Redhawks staff, Quinn mentored and guided ten players to the All Conference team, and two players earned all area honors. During his time as the Marist Defensive Coordinator, the defense combined for 104 tackles for loss, 95 sacks, and 47 turnovers. His defense scored 6 touchdowns and only allowed 17.9 points per game.

From 2006-2008, he served as the special teams coordinator, linebackers coach, and video coordinator for Kentucky Wesleyan College. During this time, he played a role in the Panthers' transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. His special teams unit recorded 13 blocked kicks.

Quinn attended and played football at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he helped lead the Foresters to the highest win total in the programs 114 year history. He was a starter on the school’s first conference championship team in over 20 years and the team qualified for the school’s first ever NCAA playoff appearance during his sophomore season. Quinn was named a 2004 All-Midwest Conference Receiver. He finished his college career ranked top five in school history in receptions, kickoff returns, and kickoff return yardage. He graduated from Lake Forest in 2005 with a degree in Communications.

Coach Quinn is a 2001 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. While on the Caravan football team, he helped lead the team to the 1999 & 2000 5A State Championship as a running back. His team was ranked nationally for three straight years with a record of 43-4. He was one of just three running backs to start on two state champion teams in school history. Coach Quinn resides in Fort Myers, Florida.
