Ryan Sweeney is in his third year on the Ave Maria University men’s basketball staff. In addition to his duties as an assistant coach, Sweeney runs the Gyrene developmental teams.
Prior to coming to Ave Maria, Sweeney spent two seasons with Gardner-Webb University, serving as video coordinator and graduate assistant. Before Gardner-Webb, Sweeney served as a student manager for four seasons with the Saint Louis University men’s basketball team. During his time with Saint Louis, he served as the assistant to the video coordinator while also assisting in daily basketball operations.
In his last season, Saint Louis captured the Atlantic 10 title and birth to the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. Sweeney has previous experience working with IMG Academy, The Hoop Group, and numerous basketball camps across the country.
Sweeney has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Louis University and his master’s degree in Sport Education from Gardner-Webb University. A native of Summit, NJ, his family includes his mother, Ame, his father, Hugh, and his brother, Maguire.
