Jeff Miner

Jeff Miner enters his second year as an assistant coach of the softball team at Ave Maria University. His duties at AMU include hitting instruction and individual work with the outfielders. 

In his first season with the Blue and Green he helped guide the Lady Gyrenes to a runner-up finish at the Sun Conference Tournament in 2015 and 
nine wins over nationally ranked opponents.

Before arriving at Ave Maria, Coach Miner served as a volunteer assistant softball coach at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Fort Myers, Fla. He spent three seasons with the Eagles, helping to guide them to an Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season and tournament title in 2012 and three consecutive 30+ win seasons.

Before his time at FGCU, Miner was a teacher in the Lee County School System for over 35 years.  In 2008, Coach Miner received the Lee County Physical Education Teacher of the Year award. He has 20 years of Varsity High School coaching experience. Coach Miner coached from 2002-2010 at North Fort Myers High School, where he was the Head Varsity Softball Coach. During that time the team amassed a record of 154-65, winning two district championships, one conference title, one regional championship, and a state final four appearance. He was also selected as the 2009 News-Press Coach of the Year.

Coach Miner graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, where he was a member of the men's soccer team and twice received the Male Athlete of the Year award. He received a Masters of Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

He resides in Cape Coral with his wife Bobbie. They have two children, J.D. and Brooke.
