Katie Latenser enters her second season at the helm of the women's volleyball program at AMU. Latenser brings a mixture of collegiate playing and coaching experience to Ave Maria. As a student-athlete, she played two years at Johnson County Community College before transferring and playing her final two years at Northern Kentucky University.
While at JCCC, Latenser was a member of the 2005 NJCAA National Championship team and was a two time All-America selection; honorable mention in 2005 and second team in 2006. Latenser also holds the current career digs record at Johnson County Community College with 1,391.
During her time at Northern Kentucky, she helped guide the Norse to two Division II National Championship tournament appearances and was a 2008 Academic All-Conference honoree.
Upon graduating from Northern Kentucky with a degree in Physical Education, Katie accepted a graduate assistantship at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. She served as a GA at Benedictine for two years where she was responsible for on-court training, identifying potential recruits and preparing workouts and scouting reports.
After receiving her Master of Arts degree in Education with an Emphasis in Teacher Leadership, Latenser continued to work at Benedictine as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. As assistant coach, Katie continued to develop on-court training and workout programs while managing and coordinating recruiting visits. Latenser also planned the University's summer volleyball camps.
