Josh Lewis

Josh Lewis was hired as the Director of Sports Medicine in October of 2024, and is currently in his second year at Ave Maria University.

Lewis brought over a decade of clinical experience to the sports medicine department, including time spent in the NFL and time spent with an NCAA Division I program. He has also worked as an athletic trainer on multiple Air Force bases, including most recently at Hurlburt Air Force Base in Fort Walton, Florida, where he provided physical therapy coverage for Air Force Special Operations.

The most recent university with which Lewis worked was Vanderbilt University out of the Southeastern Conference, where he was an assistant clinical manager from 2015-2020. In 2023, Lewis went back to Nashville to work as an office manager for Vanderbilt.

Lewis got his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance in 2009 from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He got his Master of Business Administration in 2022 from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.

His first professional experience out of college was as an assistant athletic trainer for the Tennessee Titans out of the National Football League. Lewis was also an athletic trainer for the Nashville Soccer Club.

At Ave Maria, Lewis will be responsible for coordinating the athletic training needs for AMU's 27 intercollegiate sports, which consist of nearly 700 student-athletes.
