Rachel Atherley is in her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Ave Maria women's soccer program. Atherley serves as an assistant coach for the Gyrenes' first team, while also taking on a leadership role for the program's reserves.
Atherley played three seasons at Ave Maria, first joining the program in 2019. Over those three seasons, Atherley played a major role in Ave Maria's defensive efforts. She saw action in ten matches during the 2020 season, and aided an AMU defense that allowed fewest goals in program history. She played in six more matches in 2021 as Ave Maria again posted a winning record.
Before coming to Ave Maria, she played two seasons at Mount St. Mary's. She played 20 games over her two seasons at the NCAA Division I level. She was an All-Conference performer during her high school career, and was named Female Athlete of the Year at Calvary Christian High School in New Jersey.
