AMU To Host Two TSC Opponents This Week

AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Lady Gyrenes women's soccer team will look to get back on track this week when they host two Sun Conference opponents. AMU will first welcome Florida Memorial University to Ave Maria on Thursday and then Saint Thomas on Saturday afternoon.

Scouting Ave Maria 3-6 (0-5 Sun Conference)
Head Coach: Frank Frostino (Fourth Season)

The Blue and Green will look to jump start their offense this week when they take on the Florida Memorial and Saint Thomas. Sophomore Anne Bateman netted the lone goal for the Lady Gyrenes last week in their 3-1 loss to Southeastern University. Bateman's goal versus the Fire was her team leading fourth of the season.

Opponent: Florida Memorial Lions
Date: Thursday, October 16, 2014
Opening Kick: 4:00pm
Location: North Park Athletic Complex, Ave Maria University

Scouting Florida Memorial University 2-11-1 (1-4 Sun Conference)
Head Coach: Fernando Valenzuela

Florida Memorial will enter action Thursday coming off a 1-0 defeat of fellow TSC opponent Johnson and Wales University. Giorgia Dunne and Brenda Davilla have been the leaders this season for the Lady Lions offense. Dunne, who leads the team in goals, has found the back of the net four times. Davilla, whose 11 points is good enough to lead FMU, has knocked in three goals of her own while facilitating on five others.

Opponent: Saint Thomas University
Date: Saturday, October 18, 2014
Opening Kick: 4:00pm
Location: North Park Athletic Complex, Ave Maria University

Scouting Saint Thomas University 6-5-1 (2-3 Sun Conference)
Head Coach: Michelle Smith

If AMU is going to walk away with a victory over STU, the defense of the Lady Gyrenes is going to have to contain the offense of Michelle Bailey. Bailey, the leading scorer for the Bobcats this season has tallied six goals, while playing in just 10 of 12 games this season. Scoring for the Blue and Green will be no easy task; the Bobcats defense has recorded five shutouts this season through 12 games.
