Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla.— The Florida College Falcons used a first half goal and strong defense to defeat the Ave Maria Gyrenes 1-0 Thursday afternoon in non-conference action. AMU is back in action Saturday, October 25th, taking on Warner University.
Defense was the story early and often throughout the match, the Falcons would not get on the board until midway through the first half, netting the lone goal of the match in the 27th minutes of play.
The offense of the Gyrenes was held to just four shots Thursday afternoon. The Falcons were able to outshoot AMU 10-4, tallying five shots on net. The goalkeeping duo of JC Intriago and Andres Martin were able to record four total saves in the loss.
With the loss the Gyrenes drop their record to 1-11 overall.
The Gyrenes will return home for two consecutive TSC games to wrap up the conference portion of their schedule. AMU will first take on Warner University this Saturday and then Southeastern, next Wednesday, October 29th. Both of these contests are set for 3 p.m. kickoffs.
