BABSON PARK, Fla. --- The Ave Maria football team fell behind 20-0 and was unable to recover, eventually falling 29-14 at Webber International on Saturday afternoon. The Blue and Green return to the field next week when they travel to Edward Waters.

Clayton Uecker was 16-of-33 for 118 yards and one touchdown. Travis Makauskas had seven receptions for 60 yards and also threw one touchdown pass. Troy Olmo and Ryan O'Rourke each were on the receiving end of touchdown passes.

Frank Kelly led the Gyrenes' defensive efforts with 11 total tackles, 10 solo, and two tackles for a loss. Tanner Bowling added seven solo tackles.

Webber scored the first three touchdowns of the game, scoring on offense, defense, and special teams. Their first touchdown came on a 75-yard punt return by Prince Holloway. Early in the second quarter, Webber added to its lead with a 49-yard fumble recovery. With 8:40 remaining in the first half, the Warriors made the score 20-0 with an 11-yard touchdown run by Darius Page.

The Gyrenes got on the board late in the second quarter when Uecker found O'Rourke for an 11-yard touchdown pass.

In the third quarter, Webber added a touchdown and a field goal before Makauskas connected with Olmo for a 2-yard pass and catch to make the score 29-14.

The Blue and Green finished with 192 yards of total offense compared to 312 total yards by the Warriors.

AMU returns to the field on Nov. 1 when they travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on Edward Waters for a 2 p.m. kick off.Â
