AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team swept Florida Memorial 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) on Thursday night. Prior to the game, AMU honored its two seniors, Calee Dineen and Mary Eckard.
 
Lexy Smith led the Blue and Green with 11 kills while Jessica Schein tallied a team-leading 26 assists. Katelyn Healy recorded seven kills for the Lady Gyrenes. Senior Mary Eckard finished with 17 digs.
 
As a team, AMU finished with 38 kills compared to 17 from Florida Memorial.
 
Ave Maria jumped out to early leads in each of the first two sets and cruised the rest of the way to get out to 2-0 lead. In the third, the teams went back-and-forth early before the Lady Gyrenes were able to pull away late to close out the match with a 25-21 set win.
 
The Blue and Green close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday when they welcome St. Thomas to Tom Golisano Field House. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
