AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team concluded its 2014 home slate on Saturday afternoon when they welcomed St. Thomas to Tom Golisano Field House. The Blue and Green fell in straight sets to the Lady Bobcats.
 
Lexy Smith finished with a match-high 10 kills and three block assists. Jessica Schein led AMU in both assist with 27 and digs with 10.
 
The Lady Gyrenes kept within striking distance of St. Thomas in the first set before six straight points by the Bobcats put the STU lead to 16-8. St. Thomas won the final four points of the opening set to take it 25-15.
 
Ave Maria and St. Thomas went back-and-forth in the second and third sets with the Lady Bobcats taking a couple more points than the Lady Gyrenes at the end of each set to get the wins.
 
The Blue and Green begin their final week of play when they travel to Southeastern on Nov. 7. AMU concludes its 2014 slate on Nov. 8 when they play Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.
