AVE MARIA, Fla. ---Â The Ave Maria women's basketball team fell to NCAA DI Florida Gulf Coast University, 102-54, on Sunday evening. The Gyrenes drop to 4-4 on the season. The Blue and Green will return to the court on Dec. 2, when they travel to Webber International for their Sun Conference opener.

Annie Artise led all-scorers with 17 points and recorded a game-high seven rebounds in the loss. She also had two blocks. Alanna Roswarski added nine points and a team-high four assists for the Lady Gyrenes.

AMU was able to keep with FGCU early in the game and trailed by just three at the first media timeout after Artise banked in a three-pointer. Just past the midway point of the first half, Madison McDonald made a layup to pull AMU within six, 21-15.

FGCU made eight of its 10 first half threes in the final eleven minutes to turn a six points FGCU lead into a 57-17 halftime advantage over the Blue and Green.

AMU was able to settle in more in the second half, scoring 37 points while allowing 45.

As a team, AMU shot 31.1 percent from the field and made 6-of-26 from behind the arc. FGCU shot 51.9 percent from the floor and made 17-of-43 from three.

Five different Lady Eagles finished in double-figures led by Taylor Gradinjan who had 16 points.Â
