Football Hosts Point (Ga.) In TSC Contest

AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria football team will welcome Point University (Ga.) to AMU Football Field for a 12 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. Coming off a 30-7 win at Edward Waters last week, the Gyrenes (3-6) will look to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

Clayton Uecker led the Gyrenes' air attack against Edward Waters, throwing for 144 yards and two touchdowns on 13-of-28 passing. Dustin Roberts ran the ball 31 times for 127 yards against the Tigers while Daviel Clarke ran for 115 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for the Blue and Green.
 
The AMU offense finished with 392 yards of total offense compared to 236 by Edward Waters. The Gyrene defense held the Tigers to 67 yards in the air.
 
The Gyrenes will look to take advantage of a Point defense that allows 403 yards per game and 37 touchdowns on the season. The Skyhawk offense averages 346 yards per contest and has scored eight touchdowns on the season, four rushing and four passing.
 
Donald Hall leads the Skyhawks' ground game, rushing for 335 yards this season on 86 attempts, a 47.9 average. Charles Fortis is the starting quarterback for Point. He has completed 98 of his 205 attempts this season for 1,059 yards and has thrown four touchdown passes and eight interceptions.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, Albert Trammell leads the Skyhawks in tackles with 56 on the season. Leonard Adger leads the team with 5.5 tackles for a loss on the season.
