AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria University volleyball team fell in straight sets to Webber International Saturday afternoon. The Gyrenes drop to 1-6 overall and to 0-2 in Sun Conference action.

Lexie Andric (Tallahassee, Fla.) and
Hannah Wurster (Conestoga, Pa.) led AMU with seven kills apiece. Andric also recorded 10 digs.
Mary Eckard (Milford, Iowa) led the Blue and Green in digs with 11.

The Lady Gyrenes had tough loses in the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-23, before falling 25-15 in the third set. The Lady Warriors held a 46-31 advantage in kills over the Gyrenes.

Webber jumped out to a big lead in the first set but the Lady Gyrenes rallied late to pull within three, 23-20, before the Lady Warriors won the final two points to take the opening set.

In the second set, AMU won six of seven points to take an 11-9 lead early in the set. Â With the set tied at 21-all, the Lady Gyrenes were unable to get a go-ahead point allowing Webber win the set 25-23.

Webber opened the third set on a big run and never looked back en route to a 25-15 set win.

AMU begins a busy week with the first of three home matches on Tuesday night when they host Southeastern University. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
