AVE MARIA, Fla. --- After taking the opening set, 28-26, the Lady Gyrenes were unable to continue that momentum, falling in four to the visiting Florida College Falcons. AMU returns to action on Saturday when they host Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m
 
Lexy Smith (Manassas, Va.) tied a season-high with 14 kills in the match and hit at a team-best clip of .324. Hannah Wurster (Conestoga, Pa.) also recorded double-digit kills with 11 on the night.
 
Four different Lady Gyrenes recorded double-figure digs with Mary Eckard (Milford, Iowa) leading the way with 24. Lexie Andric had 11 digs while Monique Rivers (Naples, Fla.) and Keke Smith (Kissimmee, Fla.) each finished with 10 digs.
 
Each team made big runs in the first set. The Gyrenes opened the match on a 7-2 run only to see Florida College go on a 14-3 run to take a 16-10 lead. Late in the set, AMU converted six straight points to pull within one at 22-21.
 
After fighting off three Florida College set points, the Blue and Green got their first chance to win the set at 26-25. Florida College got a kill to block the first set point but the Lady Gyrenes rattled off the next two points to take the first set 28-26.
 
In the second and third sets, late runs by Florida College allowed the Falcons to pull break open otherwise close sets. A nine point run in the middle of the fourth set allowed Florida College to close out the match with a 25-14 fourth set win.
 
The Lady Gyrenes take the court again on Saturday afternoon when they host Embry-Riddle in a 2 p.m. match up.
