AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team fell in three sets (7-25, 20-25, 9-25) to Embry-Riddle on Saturday afternoon at Tom Golisano Field House. AMU drops to 1-9 overall and to 0-4 in TSC play. The Lady Gyrenes return to action on Tuesday when they travel to St. Thomas.
The Blue and Green struggled to get things going against the Lady Eagles, who started the season ranked 20th in the NAIA. Embry-Riddle used a 14 point run to turn a 10-6 score into a set point in the first set, going on to take the set 25-7.
AMU looked more comfortable on the court in the second set, going back-and-forth with ERAU for most of the set before falling 25-20. In the third set, Embry-Riddle closed the set on an eight-point run to grab the set 25-9.
Hannah Wurster led AMU with six kills while Jessica Schein recorded a team-best 18 assists.
The Lady Gyrenes hit the road on the Tuesday for a conference matchup with St. Thomas in Miami Gardens at 7 p.m. This is the first road game for the Gyrenes since September 2.
