Men’s Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision At No. 7 Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. --- Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Ave Maria men's soccer team rallied to tie the game at 1-all early in the second half against seventh-ranked Thomas before two goals by the Nighthawks made the score 3-1. The Blue and Green drop to 1-9 on the season and to 0-5 in conference action.
 
Thomas opened the scoring with a goal by Eric Persson 1:32 into the game. The score would remain 1-0 into the halftime break.
 
In the 56th minute, Fabrizio Bucco scored off a pass from Adam Roberge to tie the game at 1-1. It didn't take long for Thomas to regain the lead, scoring just 21 seconds later to go ahead 2-1. Thomas added an insurance goal with 9:20 remaining in the match to make it 3-1.
 
The Gyrenes were outshot 18-6. Thomas had seven more shots on goal than the Blue and Green, 11-4.
 
Bucco tallied a team-high two shots, one on goal. Juan Carlos Bucaram, Alejandro Echeverria, and Bernard Carollo each recorded a shot on goal in the match.
 
Andrea Salomone took the loss, allowing three goals while making eight saves.
 
The Gyrenes return to action on Saturday when they take on Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga.
