Gyrenes Fall To Webber, 35-7

AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria football team fell to Webber International, 35-7, on Saturday afternoon. Webber scored 14 points in each of the first two quarter, a lead the Gyrenes were unable to overcome.
 
Webber scored on runs on 3-yards and 2-yards in the opening quarter by Brendan DeShields and Garry Chouloute to take a 14-0 lead. In the second quarter, DeShields added a touchdown run of one yard before Darius Page scored on a one yard touchdown run.
 
Trailing 28-0 in the third quarter, Matthew Kreichman connected with Brian Byrd for a seven yard pass and catch touchdown to pull AMU within 21, 28-7.
 
DeShields added his third touchdown run, a one-yard attempt, to cap a 9-play, 61-yard drive to make it 35-7 in favor of the Royals.
 
Warner finished with 393 yards of total offense compared to 188 by the Gyrenes. Both teams turned the ball over twice via fumble. AMU threw one interception.
 
Kaleb Coffee and Dustin Roberts finished with 58 yards and 54 yards rushing, respectively. Kreichman completed 7-of-12 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.
 
Kobi Bowers led the Gyrene defense with 17 total tackles. Ramsey Bennett (15), Frank Kelly (11) and Nick Dorgan (10) also finished with double-digit tackles.
 
Darius Page led Webber with 156 yards on the ground on 28 carries with one touchdown. DeShields had 20 carries for 71 yards and three touchdowns. 300 of Webber's 393 total offensive yards came on the ground.
 
The Blue and Green play their final home game of 2015 next week when they welcome Edward Waters to AMU Football Field. Prior to the game, AMU will honor its 2015 seniors. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 12 p.m.
